The editorial board of the Canadian Geriatrics Journal would like to raise a holiday glass in honour of our final issue of 2011. This marks a one-year milestone for the online “reboot” of our journal. I would like to thank all of the members of our society who have provided reviews, and I would especially like to thank my associate editor, Dr. Mark Rapoport.

This issue, which ideally should be read by a roaring fireplace (or at least one of those roaring fireplace videos), contains a number of timely systematic reviews. Dr. Sztramko examines the evidence for adverse events from pharmacological treatments for heart failure in older adults. Dr. Wong and Dr. Chau provide an in-depth analysis for the current evidence for an association between Vitamin D dosing and fall prevention in seniors residing in long-term care. Dr. Huang provides an excellent summary of the current literature around making acute care more age-friendly. These excellent reviews are rounded out by an original research article by Dr. Larner, which examines the success of telemedicine and online sources in providing care to seniors using the National Health Service.

We hope you enjoy our winter issue.

Happy holidays!
