Biography: David Bryan Hogan, MD

Born in Baie Comeau QC, David received an MD from Dalhousie University (1977) and then trained as a specialist in geriatric medicine. In 1984 he returned to Dalhousie University as an academic geriatrician where he stayed until joining the University of Calgary in 1990 as the founding head of its Division of Geriatric Medicine. At Calgary David held The Brenda Strafford Chair in Geriatric Medicine for 25-years. Nationally he chaired the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Specialty and Examination Committees in Geriatric Medicine and was President of the Canadian Geriatrics Society.  Research interests include age-related cognitive impairment, falls, and frailty. David has published widely in these and other areas and taken part in a number of consensus building initiatives.
